"Powered by Stability AI” Featuring Daz 3D
Daz 3D is the world's most versatile genesis character creator. They have worked with incredible brands like Coca Cola, Nike and Fortnite to name but a few! Stability AI is proud to interview Daz 3D who have used SDXL and privately fine tuned it, in their new launch Daz AI Studio. We wanted to get to know them a little more and how and why they chose us as their co partners. We spoke to Matt Wilburn, the President of Daz 3D for a little more insight… Let's dive in!
What are you launching?
Daz AI Studio is an AI-powered image generator that transforms text into fine-tuned visuals in the style of Daz’s renders.With a user-friendly interface and built-in prompt assist for model refinement, it's an ideal solution for creative people seeking to create visual art without the expertise and hardware requirements typically required by 3D rendering applications. Daz will introduce additional capabilities within the image generator, including customizable presets, inpainting, upscaling, and more. Daz 3D is partnering with its artist community to expand the variety of layered product options for users in the months ahead.
You have been in the marketplace for 20 years in gaming avatars and 3D - what are the monumental changes you have seen?
Daz’s mission has always been to make the lives of creative people better by helping them produce higher quality results with less effort. So Daz and others offering ‘shortcuts’ meant days of production could be reduced to hours. Fast forward to this era of generative AI tools, and those hours are being slashed to minutes (even seconds!).
And what do you predict will happen in the next 2-5-10 years?
Haha, well whatever we think today will happen in ten years will probably happen in two. Even amateurs will likely have very capable multimodal generative AI solutions at their fingertips – models capable of generating not just text or images, but fully immersive videos, games and experiences - each requiring a fraction of the time and skill required today. That will revolutionise work, entertainment in ways that are hard to predict today, much like the introduction of the iPhone did.
You have worked with some major brands like Coca Cola, Nike, DC etc.
Can you tell us a little about what has been your favourite project to work on and why?
The Coca-Cola NFT Lootbox, was a highlight. There were a lot of unknowns to navigate because Coca-Cola was one of the very first major brands to embrace NFTs (summer of ’22). People have collected Coca-Cola memorabilia in three different centuries, so crafting its first ever digital collectible was infused with a sense of purpose. It was sold at auction for $565,000 and benefited Coke’s longtime partner, The Special Olympics.
What made you pick Stability to work with?
We picked Stability for the quality of their models, but also because the base model was open so we could start testing on it and see if we could get the results we were after. We also were very familiar with the LoRA community and the core concept to our solution is around consistency and predictability and giving the user visual cues and a GUI instead of just text prompts and we thought the tunability of Stability would give us the greatest flexibility to develop a user friendly product for both users who are brand new to generative AI and users who want more control than is currently available in market.
The SDXL model has allowed us to generate higher resolution images natively and at faster speeds, additionally using Stablity AI's tools we are able to retain the expected fidelity that Daz Studio is known for.

I think we can agree that Daz Studio is a great amplification of the creativity that AI can deploy. They save time and money by making a creative and easy to use interface for the customer and being powered by Stability AI makes it all possible. We love seeing our models act as the base for companies to expand their offering and usefulness on. Especially as Daz 3D is a player that has been around in the gaming space for over 20 years- no easy feat! They have an extensive client list they work with and we are really pleased to partner with them as they showcase how robust a combined product offering really is.
